Summer Reading Round Up

I’ll be honest, I have not read as much as I expected through this summer but everything I did read I loved so feel the need to share with you all!

Summer Reading Round Up
I felt and still feel like this is an absolute must-read for everyone. Queenie is trying to navigate every aspect of her life, whilst trying to fit in with people that just don’t understand her. Everything in her life seems to be changing and challenging her and she just can’t get a break. Throughout this book I genuinely felt every emotion and just wanted to give Queenie a huge hug.

In Five Years
I had seen this book everywhere on Instagram and knew I needed to read it. Me and my mum usually read the same books and I was gutted when she read this one before me and was hyping it up so much, I just wanted to drop everything and binge read it so I could talk to her about it. I had heard people say ‘if you loved Me Before You then you will love this’ and I knew that it would be my kind of book for sure! I have never read a book so quick but it was because I always wanted to know what happened next but I also didn’t want it to end. Do you live life by the numbers? Do you have it all planned out? Where do you see yourself in five years? But what if you got it all wrong? Honestly, this book is a dream! If you read one book this year, make sure it’s this one!!

Our Stop
I had seen this book over on BethsBookClub and it just seemed like a ‘me’ kind of book. I’ll be honest, my mum tried this book a few times and it just wasn’t clicking for her but I really enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for romance and this was everything I could have wanted. Reaching out through a newspaper ad is just so old school and original I loved it! If you want a nice easy read then this is perfect!

The UnHoneymooners
Like I mentioned above, I’m a sucker for romance. When everyone at a wedding gets food poisoning except for 2 and it’s not the bride and groom, a honeymoon still has to go who goes? When two ‘rivals’ try and prove a point, get stubborn and end up half way round the world on a once in a lifetime holiday...what could go wrong? This book had me literally laughing out loud and feeling all the feels, it was such a pleasure to read and feel a part of their journey and I have definitely recommended it to so many people already!

The Switch
After I had read The Flatshare I knew I had to read anything else by Beth O’Leary. The Switch did not disappoint. I love how it has the story being read by two different characters, from their two different perspectives; the two main characters were so funny, I loved them!! This was such an easy read, nice light hearted and honestly had me laughing out loud so many times! I wanted to be going on these journeys with the characters!

Have you read any of these books? Or what books do you recommend?

  1. Great books! Totally agree on Queenie, it's not my favourite book of all time but definitely has an important message that everyone should read. And I loved The Unhoneymooners and The Switch too!
