Recent Reads

Lets start by being honest. I have not read as many books these last few months as I would have liked. I started the year so strong - as my first book post displayed - but I recently started back to work and the weather ended up not as nice and the motivation to read just stopped. I have however, read a few books and I do post mini reviews up on my Instagram and share my current reads on my stories. Nevertheless lets get discussing my recent reads.

Maybe One Day

Such a Fun Age

I'll be honest, I had heard a lot of good things about this book before I picked it up. This got me both excited and apprehensive as to whether I would feel the same way about it. I struggled at the very beginning but then fell in love with the story and the characters. I also feel like now with everything that has been going on in America, it is a MUST read for everyone. This book talks about race and privilege as well as the twists, turns and betrayals of a complicated relationship.

I am putting this out there now, the next three books I read at the same time as my Mum and feel the reviews will reflect both of our opinions.

The Cactus
If you are a fan of Eleanor Oliphant then you will love this book as I believe there are similarities throughout. The Cactus is a journey of self-acceptance and life changes at a mature age, where you will fall in love with the main character. I loved it and didn't see the twists and turns coming. This is a book that I have already recommended to so many people.

If I Never Met You
I finished this book SO quick and genuinely didn't want it to end. This book is honestly so relatable, I found myself connecting with all the thoughts, feelings and emotion that Laurie was going through. All the 'I will never find love again', 'I cannot trust men', all the stereotypical thoughts that we have after breakups are addressed and challenged throughout this book. Honestly I fully recommend this book, I loved it so much.

If I Never Met You
Maybe One Day
A heartfelt, emotional rollercoaster from the beginning that I didn't want to end. Jess experiences some personal loss' and tragedies and then finds out a whole lot of her life has been a lie from a box of letters she discovers. We go on a whole trip with her, that might as well have taken us round the world. We felt every emotion possible and permanently had the question of... will she get her happy ever after?!

Like I said, not the most books read currently but it is better than nothing. I have also just had my Kindle arrive so will be putting my thoughts and feelings together about this for a blogpost, as I have always been a lover of physical books and turning pages but the storage of actual books is becoming an issue - sorry not sorry

Which of these have you read or what are some books you have been loving at the moment?
