Look After Yourself During Lockdown

Anyone else demotivated? Finding that pj days become a regular thing. Leaving your hair that extra day to be washed because you aren't seeing anyone. That Netflix show is worth spending a whole day on the sofa in front of the TV. What even is makeup? It is so easy to lose that routine and suddenly every day become your 'lazy day'. I, too, have still been in my dressing gown at 3 in the afternoon and wondered where those 6 hours had just gone but I soon realised that it was doing me no good. I had to find some way of looking after myself to make myself feel better.

You may be with me, in experiencing the lockdown skin. I am not wearing makeup so how come my skin has decided to have a breakout?! I think the change in routine, not being allowed outside very much, just everything was having an impact on my skin and it needed sorting out. I thought that throughout lockdown let's focus on trying to sort out my skin, taking good care of it and developing an actual routine. It is so nice to sit there and actually pamper yourself and you do think afterwards about how good your skin actually feels. It is a nice way to give yourself that little pick me up on a daily basis.

I can't be the only one who is now in major panic mode about having to have chipped, broken, stumpy nails all the time. I know so many people who have been ordering their own gel kits and lamps off amazon to teach themselves how to do their own nails - I mean this could be a major money saver after lockdown! It is also something that if you are artistic and creative could get experimental with, I am sure it would be rather therapeutic.

I know this is something that everyone goes on about during lockdown but I have managed to find some really great home workouts to do. There are 2 fitness accounts on YouTube who I religiously watch and follow along. There is MadFit, who I love because she used to be a dancer and therefore incorporates this into her workouts. She does some longer workouts but a good majority of them are to the length of a song, so you can do as many or as few as you want and fit them into your routine really easily. The next is ChloeTing who has free workout plans for different aims, focuses and body types, that are mainly in the form of HIIT workouts.

If you do want to venture out the house for your daily exercise then Couch to 5k is a great app for introducing you into running. It has a plan that you can follow which will tell you when to walk and when to run and it is all guided, with motivational talks throughout.

This has been something that I have been doing quite a lot of and honestly I feel so much better for it. Sometimes just sitting and getting lost in a book is the perfect escape from everything that is going on, it gives you time away from the news, social media and just gives you the little bubble of the story to keep you company. If you need any book recommendations then you can check out my post.

Obviously these are just a few ways to take some 'you time'. If you have any other ideas then lets have a chat in the comments.

Stay safe x
